Can’t Get Motivated

cant-get-motivated

So I thought with my kids going back to school I’d be full of all kinds of energy. Ready to get back at the writing seriously! Savor all of that morning alone time! Be productive! Tackle that to-do list and get ‘er done!

Nope. I know it’s only been a couple of days but man, I am draggin’ (getting up at 5:30 in the morning is probably not helping). I sit in front of my laptop and tell myself to write.

I visit Romance Divas instead.

Don’t get me wrong. I love me some Divas. Talk about supportive. But I should be writing. (And I bet Kristen will come over here and kick my butt ‘cos I’m not. She is the writing queen right now!)

Tell me what motivates you. Please. I’m begging for it. I need help. We don’t even have to refer to writing when it comes to what motivates you either. It could be about anything. Let’s discuss.

Gratuitous pin-up shot. Has nothing to do with this post. Reminds me of Feisty. ‘Nuff said.

Gimme A Nap!

gimme-a-nap

Ah I just indulged in something I don’t do very often yesterday. In fact I indulged in it for two hours - wowza.

Yes I took a nap.

Photobucket

I’ve been staying up waaay too late these last few nights - not good considering my kids start school Monday and I have to get up super early to get them there.

Yesterday we also went to a lake about an hour away from home to have a picnic. A last hurrah so to speak before the boogers go back to school. I think it wore us all out. So when we got home, Mommy took a nap.

It felt good. I woke up refreshed, ready to conquer the rest of the day! Yet the day was almost over! Oh well. I conquered some writing so hey, at least I got something done.

Do you nap? I know some can’t and I know I can’t all of the time. But every once in a while, it’s just what I need.

We had such a fabulous time in San Francisco. I didn’t see everyone as much as I would have liked, but it was still wonderful to catch up with everyone in person!

Pumped Up

pumped-up

So I’m back from the RWA conference and I’m all pumped up. Ready to write. Ready to conquer the publishing world! Yeah baby don’t mess with me, I’m writing. Writing like the wind!

No really I am! I’m also cleaning like the wind. My house was a semi-disaster and I had a ton of laundry to do when I got home. Oh joy, oh fun.

I’m keeping this short and sweet. I’m lazy. I’m still a little tired. Though I swear I’m writing! Writing lots! Wrote 2k on Tuesday, yay! On the wrong book but that’s okay, the story won’t leave me alone. The hero is a little bugger and he won’t stop whispering in my ear. Ever have that happen? Yeah it kind of sucks. But it’s also kind of fun.

When you come back from conference do you feel all pumped up and ready to write, ready to conquer? Heck even when I’ve not gone to conference and I hear about everyone’s conference experiences I get all riled up, my fingers itching to type…

So Many Things, So Little Time

so-many-things-so-little-time

We are less than two weeks away from the RWA National Conference in San Francisco and there is so much I’d like to do. So much I need to do.

But so little time.

Doesn’t help that I’m goofing off and playing around on Photoshop when I should be oh, I dunno, working on my pitch so I can nail those pitch appointments. Sigh.

I am such a slacker.

I wish I had more money so I could buy a new wardrobe. But that’s not gonna happen. I’d like some new shoes. But not ones that would kill my feet. I know Shelli will agree with me on that one. And Feisty. Since she can only shoe one foot and all…

If you’re going, what all are you doing to prepare for the big conference? And if you’re not going (which I’m so sorry, I always love to meet/see everyone and probably next year I will be crying at home while everyone else is off having fun in DC!), what are you doing when you should be doing something else? Cos come on, I can’t be the only procrastinator/slacker around here.

Distracted

distracted

I’m having a hard time focusing. On the writing bit. Here we are about three weeks from the RWA National Conference in San Francisco and I’m not ready. I should be working on writing, on pitching, on adding to my new wardrobe. Hell I should be working on something that’s RWA-related.

Instead I’m sitting around sweltering in the heat. Or I’m splashin’ in the pool with the kids so we won’t swelter. Or I read and think to myself, man you should write. Then I watch TV. Or I sit in front of my computer and do…nothing.

I blame summer. Kids are home and distracting. There are also fun things going on. Lately it’s just plain too hot and it’s so much more fun to just be a slug. Well, I think I’m sluggish only because of the weather. Please I’m begging for a ninety degree day - today is slated for 112!! Isn’t that just freaking unnatural?

Okay what are you doing so far this summer? What are your upcoming plans? Will I see you in San Francisco? Are you going somewhere awesome? Or just staying home?

Went on a Day Trip

And became inspired! The fam and I drove about forty minutes north and hung out at Bass Lake. It’s amazing what forty minutes and about three thousand feet will do for you.

Beautiful trees and that wonderful pine smell…

I’d already planned to base the new book I’ve just started on Bass Lake. Now that I hung out there all day I knew I had to base the fictional town I’d created in my head on Bass Lake. Why don’t we come here more often? Next time I swear I’m bringing my laptop and writing.

Anywhere you can go and escape the heat that’s not too far? Share.
