Went on a Day Trip

And became inspired! The fam and I drove about forty minutes north and hung out at Bass Lake. It’s amazing what forty minutes and about three thousand feet will do for you.

Beautiful trees and that wonderful pine smell…

Cool blue water the kids swam and fished in.

A boat we will wanted to jump onto.

I’d already planned to base the new book I’ve just started on Bass Lake. Now that I hung out there all day I knew I had to base the fictional town I’d created in my head on Bass Lake. Why don’t we come here more often? Next time I swear I’m bringing my laptop and writing.

Anywhere you can go and escape the heat that’s not too far? Share.

Hot Fun

hot-fun

In the summertime! We had what I called family fun day yesterday. Yeah, yeah I was a tad sarcastic considering all of the yelling and fighting that went on between the siblings but hey we spent the entire day together! Doing fun stuff! Dad wasn’t working and Mom’s butt was out of the chair and away from the laptop! A miracle!

First we went to the movies and saw Indiana Jones and the blah blah blah. I can’t ever remember it’s official title. Good movie, a bit long but my boyfriend Shia was in it and so I forgave the length. My children could barely forgive the length. The two youngest were crawling all over the chairs they were so bored.

Then we went to lunch, came home and jumped in the pool! It’s so hot and smoky here in California. Fires all around us. So it was nice to cool off in the water.

Trippy pic of the pool.

The giant lobster my dad scored on Shasta Lake working boat patrol. Someone’s loss is our gain!

A child just jumped in the pool in this pic. I either get them jumping too early or too late like this one. This is a lazy woman’s post. What are you all up to so far this summer?

Where Do You Work?

where-do-you-work

*Sob* I’m sad - half of the NAS girls have ditched us. No Amie…No Shelli…Only me and Feist! We’re lonely!

Sorry I just had to have a little fit. *Deep breath* I’m better now. Really.

Since I’m in such a sorry state I thought I would share an interesting article (source: Wall Street Journal) I found recently. A stay at home mom who was running her kids around all over the place started writing a novel in the back seat of her mini van. She wrote pretty much the entire thing in her mini van.

Now she’s published by St Martin’s Press (Four Wives by Wendy Walker)!

She said at home there were too many distractions. I can relate to that. I have a laptop but most of the time I stay at my little desk and write. Sometimes I move around but for the most part I’m right here, writing my life away.

How about you? Where do you write? And if you’re not a writer, where do you get your best work in?

Key Words Part Deux

key-words-part-deux

Okay I can’t help myself. I know I blogged about this before but they are too funny (and gross) not to share. And besides, I can’t come up with a worthy blog topic. My kids are illin’ and well, yeah. That’s my excuse and I’m stickin’ to it.

So here are some new and improved key words that bring people to our site. Yes indeed there are some…interesting people out there looking for…interesting stuff.

Ahem, now for the list:

karens-to-do-list

Emma told me I needed a to do list last night. I realized I really didn’t have one and she’s right, I needed one. It’s important stuff ya know?

Do you have one? Many have switched out through the years and some have lingered on and on. So let’s check out my, ahem, to do list.

Time Flies

time-flies

Wow, I can’t believe one year has already passed! Time truly does fly. When we started this blog I knew it would be a lot of fun, a place to go wild and crazy, a place to share silly and serious ideas with people of like minds.

And that’s exactly what it’s been. I want to thank everyone who has stopped by and visited us this past year. All of the commenters, the guest bloggers, the lurkers, the weirdos who Google “soiled panties” and end up here. All of you! Thanks!

So let’s get to the good stuff.

Cake anyone? The cake doesn’t look so great, the guy is just all right but the sentiment is exactly what I’m looking for…

Here’s one of my gifts to you:

Photobucket

I saved him on my computer under the name of “hot and sweaty.” Indeed.

Now for another gift for you. I will randomly draw the name of one lucky commenter from this post at the end of the day and that person will be the lucky winner of a free download of my latest book with Ellora’s Cave, Too Tempting! Woo hoo! So comment away please. Tell me what’s new. Tell me what you love about Naughty & Spice. Tell me if you think that guy really is hot and sweaty. Tell me if you’ll eat cake in bed.

I don’t care, just tell me something!  :woot:
