I’M SO (happily) GUILTY! by Bonnie Edwards

Wow! It’s been such a long time since my last guest appearance here at Naughty and Spice. Thanks for inviting me back!

I think the last time I was here I whined about “how big is too big” and talked about heroes turning into humongous behemoths lately.

<gulp> I’m now guilty, too.

In BREATHLESS I’ve got three heroes, one of whom is huge. In the novella Breathless, you’ll meet Dr. Colt Stephens who’s tall and lanky, with a distinctive lopsidedness to his grin. He’s a rather straitlaced hero. Unless you consider that he doctors the women at Perdition House in 1913! Yes! Another bordello story that provides some closure to previous stories set there.

My heroine, Blue McCann slips into a gorgeous antique corset and into the arms of the good doctor.

In To Die For, we meet Stack Hamilton and Tawny James. Guess which one is HUGE? (With a name like Stack?) As soon as I watched him walk across the stage of my mind, I knew he was Stack. He’s got raven hair and shoulders to die for. Tawny is easily a match for him. Stack might say she’s almost too much woman. . .

In Body by Gibson, I’m pleased to offer Danny Glenn, a carpenter who knows his way around a woman’s body and is only too happy to please. Mariel Gibson is an artist in crisis and using Danny’s body is her way of finding herself again. (Okay, I admit it…I love men with hammers and low slung jeans and tool belts)

At this point, I’m collecting some nice reviews but my favorite so far is from Sashet at You Gotta Read Reviews:

In Bonnie Edwards’ first release in almost two years you don’t have to worry that she’s lost her magic touch. Each story in this book will have you wanting to turn on the air conditioning no matter how cold it is outside. She takes you on the gamut of emotions, worry, fear, determination and most importantly she’ll make you fall in love with her too sexy for a woman’s good heroes.

So, if you like your books scorching hot run, don’t walk, to your nearest bookstore and pick this one up. Because this one – You Gotta Read!

This is my second anthology in a row for Aphrodisia, but my next book with them is a single title. I’ve just delivered Men Times Three. (can we say BIG? These brothers remind a heroine of Paul Bunyan!)

On occasion I hear that anthologies don’t sell as well as single titles, so I ask: Which would you prefer? I love anthologies because they’re quick reads, usually not too heavy because there’s not a lot of room for heavily involved plots and well, the hot scenes show up pretty darned early!

I also enjoy finding new authors in multi-author anthologies. . . but here I am with another anthology that’s all me. So, what’s the consensus: Multi-author anthos?  Single author anthos?  Or Single title novels?

I’m excited to offer one commenter an autographed copy of BREATHLESS!!

    Hi Bonnie,
Your description of all of your heroes including the ones from Men Times Three ALL left me breathless! But I think my fav so far is the Doc with the lopsided grin…I am a sucker for that every time. Even though Stack seems to have a redeeming quality or two :)

I do like anthologies, both with different authors, and all by the same author. But I also like full length novels too. Depends on my mood and how much time I have. Just like you said, sometimes you want a quick satisfying read, and with many authors in one book it is a great way to try them out and hopefully find someone new to love.

Can’t wait to read Breathless especially after reading the partial review…now I’m not just breathless, I’m panting.

    Hi Bonnie :)
Congratulations on selling the novel MEN TIMES THREE! I really enjoyed reading your post. BREATHLESS sounds like a good read and the review you quoted was great. I’ve bought multi-author anthologies because of stories written by authors I follow and discovered new gems & writers to follow by doing so. Single author anthology I buy if it is already by an author I follow. And of course I love single novel titles. The better the story and writing the longer I want the book to last.
    :)
Thank you for taking the time to share,
I wish you a wonderful weekend,
    All the best,
    RKCharron
PS – Posted about this on my blog.

This is Black Friday and I know most people are either relieved the cooking is over and it’s leftover day…or you’re shopping! So I appreciate it even more that you took the time to stop by here to comment.

Booklover, I’ve got a weakness for those grins, too. Men have no idea what can appeal to us, right?

I’m off the the zoo today….haven’t been to one in years so I hope it’s a fun day. There’s something about outings like that that clear the head.

I’ll check back in later and we’ll let you know about the winner….but if you’d like to read a little more about the journey to publishing BREATHLESS it’s posted on the 24th over at
    http://toberead.wordpress.com/

These emoticon are cracking me up! It’s been far too long since I stopped by here.

    Be back later! Shop safely!
    Bonnie
And RKCharron, thanks for the thoughts on anthologies and novels. I love both. Heck I love a good story no matter the length.

I like anthologies. I’ve discovered a lot of new authors (to me that is) that way. Sometimes when I’m in the mood for something shorter I will pick up an anthology. On the flip side of that, sometimes I’ve read stories in an anthology that have been so good I wished they went on a lot longer. Have a wonderful day at the zoo.

    Hi Bonnie,
I definitely like the descriptions of your heroes in your anthology. I enjoy single author anthologies when the stories are related. Multi author antholigies give me a chance to be introduced to new-to-me authors and their style of writing. :bounce:

  6. Estella

    Both!
    Your heroes sound yummy!

  7. Jane

Congrats on the new release and the great review. I’ve discovered many new authors by picking up multi-author anthos.

  8. Jody F.

Congrats on all your releases! They all sound great! As for me, as long as there’s a good story I have no preference on the format it comes in. As long as there’s a sexy hero, strong heroine, and lots of steamy encounters then I’m there.

Hi, Bonnie! Thanks for blogging at NAS! And yes, black friday might be a little slower round here ;)

Love that cover and so excited for your new release! You’re doing awesome!! :bounce:

So, we’re back and heard the lions roar a couple of times….then i fell in love with the Arctic foxes. SOOOO cute & white at this time of year.

Linda, i hear you about the more involved novellas…and you’re right, sometimes there’s a LOT of story wedged into too-short wordlength.

I now have a kitten jumping on the keyboard, so I’ll have to shove off for now.

    I’ll check back tomorrow!

    Bonnie

I love anthologies and have found some really good authors when I buy them because I only know one of the authors in the book. Your new releases sound awesome I don’t know why but I just love the name Stack can’t wait to read this.

  12. Amy M

Sometimes I like anthologies, sometimes not so much. Depends on who is writing them. There have been times I have been really lucky and found some really great, new authors. Other time I have tried and the new authors have flopped, but the ones that I got the book for were good. As a general rule, I go for the single titles most often. :bounce:

    Thanks!

the name Stack just seems to resonate with people! When I first introduced him to my writing buddies at a writing retreat, I got a very ladylike snort from one of them with the comment, “Stack? Great name!” :doglick:

I said, “Yep, I think so, too.” He’s always been Stack…from the first time he appeared in my mind.

As for Tawny, the lady he’s fallen for (though he can’t admit it at first)she’s got a body to die for: long dancer’s legs, gorgeous hair, great curves, but she hides it all under truly ugly clothes. Once Stack gets a load of her mother, he kind of understands….but he also gets to see a glimpse into Tawny’s future and the whole experience stalls out his heart! :surrender:

It’s another rainy day here, but we’re now in the home stretch for the Holidays and the shopping can begin for real now. Enjoy!

    I’ll check in again later!
    Bonnie

I enjoy anthologies, this is how I usually discover new authors! The more authors in one read the better!

  15. Mary

I like Multi author anthos as well as single author anthos. But the multi author anthos give me a reason to maybe read a new author that I hadn’t read before.
