(First let me say, the girls of Naughty and Spice are taking some time off for the holidays, so we alternating weeks we blog. Though there’ll always be two of us here at any given week and generally a Friday blogger as well!)
Well, it’s getting to be that time of year. The holidays. Where hams, turkeys, mashed potatoes, sugar cookies, gingerbread lattes, eggnog, peppermint martinis are greeting you pretty much all season long. And so it seems, we gain a bunch of weight during this time of year. And we’re kicking it all off this Thursday (well the Yanks are) with Thanksgiving.
I’m here to say NOT ME! In fact, I vow to LOSE weight. Why? Well, because I did my weight gain during the last couple of months. I plan on hitting the gym hardcore and watching what I eat. Again. And yes, you might be thinking shouldn’t she wait until after the holidays? But um, no not really. See here’s the thing. I don’t like most holiday food. I just don’t.
I’m not a big drinker. I have to watch my sugar. And I really don’t like traditional Thanksgiving dinner food. Yup I said it. I don’t like mashed potatoes. At all. Stuffing is okay…. turkey I kind of like, but I prefer it on a sandwich. I could go on and on. So generally, the holidays have never really been a challenge for me. And if I stick to the gym, I really should come out ahead. Hypothetically. IF I stick to the gym being the keyword.

So how about you? How excited are you for the holidays? Are you going into it saying screw it all I’ll eat what I want and be good in January (I’ve been there & there’s no judging here on Naughty and Spice
) Are you a chronic dieter dreading the upcoming weeks? Or are you just thinking…fuck, is it really Thanksgiving on Thursday?

I am like the world’s pickiest eater. The only thing I truly enjoy on Thanksgiving is the turkey(only white meat with no shiny spots or skin) and the homemade bread. Although I have mastered swallowing 10 peas whole, at a time with a sip of milk. I’m one of those that can’t have anything touching, wipes the fork off between different foods, and if it tastes weird in my mouth, there is no way I can swallow it. You’d think I could lose weight with these idiosyncracies- but no, my body has to think it’s starving and keep everything- UGH.
That being said, I love being with the family and telling my kids stories of life when I was a kid growing up with 4 brothers and no sisters. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, even though I do the cooking and cleaning.

We are celebrating Thanksgiving a little different this year. I don’t like the traditional turkey dinner so I opted to make Tacos and all the fixings to go along with them. Olay!
I am not a constant dieter. I have had some issues my whole life with my weight and a few years ago I finally said, I like the way I look and if other’s don’t…that’s their problem.
It was as if a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders when I stopped worrying about my weight, what i could and couldn’t eat, when I would eat, how much and all that.
I still have to be careful because of the hypoglycemia but I have that under control as well.
So tacos for thanksgiving it is. I think we will be doing seafood next year for thanksgiving. I don’t want to HAVE to make turkey every year, I want to make what I want.

Ah I like the big turkey day dinner but what happens usually is I’m the one cooking it and I’m in the kitchen working like a dog. By the time I sit down with a plate I hardly eat any of it! LOL I think I’m sick of it by then.
BUT! I do love me some pumpkin pie.

I LOVE Thanksgiving! This is the first year I’m not cooking up a big spread.
I like it all! Especially stuffing.

I don’t know my niece might have you beat on being the pickiest eater whenever my sister cooks a meal she will never eat what’s cook it always a bowl of cereal or something like that. She doesn’t get that from me I love food and you can tell it by looking at me but ow well you only live once. On Thanksgiving I help my sister fix lunch and you know you have to taste test things to make sure it’s right so when we eat I’m not to hungry but I get me a plate to take home. I’m sort of dreading this Thanksgiving because I have to work Wednesday night I’ll get off work at 7am Thursday morning and come home take a shower and drive 30 or 40 miles to her house with no sleep and stay up all day (we work from 7pm to 7am) and try to be friendly when all I really want is to sleep. Hope you all have a nice and safe holiday.
