I’m gearing up to start a new book. One that requires a lot of research. Heck that’s one of the reasons I’ve never really attempted a historical – the research aspect intimidated me. But I’m getting ready to write a contemporary with a slant to it that requires…lots of Google searches.

Don’t you just wanna give a big shouting “hallelujah!” for Google? For all of the search engines? They make research so much easier – right at our fingertips! And I’m not just talking for writing-related stuff either. We look up EVERYTHING in my house. My husband was looking up how to build a chicken coop yesterday. Yeah I think we might get chickens but that’s an entirely different blog post…
I remember waaay back in the day before teh internetz – yes once upon a time – and I thought I wanted to be a writer. And I was dying to write a historical because that’s what I read (Judith McNaught! Jude Deveraux! Julie Garwood! Lavyrle Spencer!) so I headed on down to the local library.
And did a big whoa when I realized everything I needed to read in order to get it right. I had a whole new respect for those writers, being able to bring forth such vivid details of the past all while doing it via reading dusty old books.
I love a dusty old book but I love me some Google even more. What would you do if Google kicked the bucket? Heaven forbid!
