So just over a week ago we had a great chapter meeting for the Greater Seattle RWA chapter. Gerri Russell and Gina Robinson were our speakers. It was all about 10 Steps to a Successful Writing Career. They had some great stuff to say, but one of the most fabulous things they mentioned was putting out your positive thoughts/energy into the universe (The Secret basically, which I read and can somewhat agree with).
How often do we apply for a job and think…they’ll never call. Or send out a book thinking…it’ll never sell. We need to turn our thoughts around. Put them out there with a positive spin and let the power of positive energy take over. I mean, I personally don’t think it’s a guarantee, but I think positive energy can go a heck of a lot further than negative. Gina and Gerri also told us how their critique group makes goals/dreams each year, writes them down, then checks in a year later to see if they made them. And they say they’re always surprised with how many they’d accomplished.
It really inspired me. To dream big for the next year. Where I want to be a year from today. So I’m going to put down my dream right in this post. And I want you to do the same. One year from now I’ll blog the follow up and I’ll link to this post so we can all see who might’ve reached their dream.
What’s your dream/goal? It doesn’t have to pertain to writing or work. And remember…think POSITIVE! Don’t send this thought out with a…yeah right mentality. Because you may have killed it before it even had a chance.
Shelli’s dream: One year from today to have a three book deal with a NY publishing house.
Leave a comment (by midnight Monday) and I’ll draw a winner to receive an advanced print copy of Dangerous Grounds!!
