I Voted

i-voted

I braved the cold — but no crowds, I live in the country there were no lines — and voted. My husband and I voted together and we took the kids. It was a real family affair.

Though my youngest tried to punch the buttons on the special handicapped voting booth and got the old ladies manning the station all in a tizzy. He was just trying to vote! Just trying to make his voice heard!

I voted for this man. I really hope he can turn our country around and make it bright and shiny again. He’s got a tough road ahead and I don’t envy him. Things aren’t going to be easy. But I believe he’s got what it takes. Change is good people!

I’m just sad there will be no more Tiny Fey/Sarah Palin skits anymore on SNL. That’s some funny shiz…

But I’m NOT sad that there will be NO MORE political commercials on TV anymore. Now bring on the Christmas commercials! **eyeroll**

Are you pleased with the outcome? You can go ahead and say no if you’re really not.

And yes, I’m going to miss the SNL skits. Seriously…those were FUNNY. And I won’t miss the commercials. Thank God they’re over!!

I am so proud to be an American today, I can’t stand it! :woot:

I’ve never been very political, but I feel…uplifted.

I don’t know what’s going to happen, I only know SOMETHING has to.

I’m pleased. But it’s not going to be easy for America. There are major changes to be made and a lot of people are going to be very, very unhappy with those changes.

I’m pretty sure Obama is the man to do it though. He may be the smartest man since Truman to hold the office. Perhaps even as smart as Jefferson. Despite being a Democrat I believe he knows he represents the American people rather than a conglomeration of special interest groups.

    We’ll see.

I don’t even have the words to tell you how please…and how MOVED I am.

And I went to Walgreens on Halloween and they already had Christmas stuff out

  6. Amie Says:

PS…Obamas speech…when he talked about the 106 year old woman I cried.

  7. Karen Says:

I got emotional last night too and I normally don’t AT ALL over political stuff. But man. This is something that’s so major for our country. And the way he spoke was so quiet and dignified. I was in awe.

  8. Shelli Says:

Yeah I was pretty much crying all night. When the poll results started coming in and such. The speech was great. He’s an awesome speaker. I really think he’s our generations MLK.

  9. Tracy Wolff Says:

God, wasn’t that an amazing speech? I did some speechwriting in my younger days and I always look at speeches from that POV. But wow– it sent chills down my back. I’m so excited I can’t even express it– and so thrilled my sons got to witness this election.

I, too, will miss Tina Fey’s impressions of Sarah Palin. I LMAO every time I saw one.

  10. Mia Says:

    I was absolutely hysterical!
I have been waiting for this moment since he took the stage at the DNC in 2004. I wholeheartedly believe that Obama is the change that we need as Americans to restore our reputation in the world. Think about it, people all over the world are going to look at America in a new light. Maybe we’ll stop being the blood-thirsty, earth pillagers that people seem to think of us as. I think that people of the world will start to respect us again.
As a Black female, I have to say that I never thought that I would see the day–I’d been told all my life that I could be whatever I wanted, but now I KNOW that I can be whatever I want to be. All because Barack won, fair and square.
I am 100% in love with my country today. And I’m not quite sure that I’ve ever really been able to say that.

I had guessed 174 electoral college votes for Mccain at Real Clear politics and hes currently at 161 with North Carolina (13) and Missouri (11) yet to be called-the only state I did not pick correctly yet was Indiana but that was within a percentage point grrr…congrats to the winner and good luck but undying respect and reverence for his noble defeated challenger

  12. Amie Stuart Says:

Daniel…I agree. McCains concession speech was muy classy!

    >>I think that people of the world will start to respect us again.

I think you’re right, Mia. And I think it’s because they’ll finally (maybe) see there’s more to America than the likes of GBush and his ilk. There are people in this country who care–a lot. A whole lot. And like you I’m very in love with my country today–except I forgot to buy the paper LOL

  13. Amy Ruttan Says:

Absolutely wonderful. If I could have voted it would have been for him, hands down.

Congrats on the Change my American Friends. :wootrock:

  14. Karen Says:

Yes yes I agree with Amie. I thought McCain’s speech was extremely classy. He was not a sore loser - he was a graceful loser and for that, I give him a big ol’ :thumb:

  15. Feisty Says:

I’m happy Obama won, but really upset that prop 8 passed.

  16. Will Belegon Says:

If anything, we in the US are actually underestimating the impact of electing Obama on our image overseas.

I am thrilled. He’s intelligent, a gifted speaker and has that special ability to inspire. He holds people accountable. He runs a tight ship.

He is extremely motivated to reform health care by what he saw while his mother was dying. He will immediately attack the energy issue because it has such a great effect on the economy.

And he will motivate us all to work together.

Time will tell, but I think this time we got it right.

  17. Amie Says:

Feisty I’m LIVID over Prop 8!!!

  18. Mia Says:

Well, as far as Prop 8 goes, you know what they say, two steps forward, one step back.

  19. Karen Says:

I wasn’t too pleased about Prop 8 passing either. I voted no of course. Don’t get me started. My husand and I go round and round arguing about this. Sigh…
