Can’t Get Motivated

cant-get-motivated

So I thought with my kids going back to school I’d be full of all kinds of energy. Ready to get back at the writing seriously! Savor all of that morning alone time! Be productive! Tackle that to-do list and get ‘er done!

Nope. I know it’s only been a couple of days but man, I am draggin’ (getting up at 5:30 in the morning is probably not helping). I sit in front of my laptop and tell myself to write.

I visit Romance Divas instead.

Don’t get me wrong. I love me some Divas. Talk about supportive. But I should be writing. (And I bet Kristen will come over here and kick my butt ‘cos I’m not. She is the writing queen right now!)

Tell me what motivates you. Please. I’m begging for it. I need help. We don’t even have to refer to writing when it comes to what motivates you either. It could be about anything. Let’s discuss.

Gratuitous pin-up shot. Has nothing to do with this post. Reminds me of Feisty. ‘Nuff said.

Everyone seems to be a bit unmotivated at the moment. Do you think it’s the mid year slump? Or maybe the goodbye summer slump? What about the after nationals slump?

  5. Karen Says:

How about all of the above slump Rhian? Because I nodded my head to every one of them. LOL

You’re right though. A lot of people are feeling out of sorts…

I love that pinup pic! I haven’t been to Divas very much lately! Probably because I’m teetering on the edge of starting a new project. But also because I’m two months out from ECWC and life has gotten CRAZY!!!

  7. Kristen Says:

Quit your whining and get writing. Don’t make me beat you into it with love and guilt. Because I will. :evillaugh:

  8. Rob Graham Says:

What motivates me more than anything else is having a woman in my life. Or at least the hope of one.

I write mostly to please her, have her smile or cry at my words. Say “Oh, that’s good!”

I’m no damned good with those abstract goals. I need that close interaction and feedback.

Don’t really have that at the moment.

However I’m managing to work past that. I’ve managed to do some writing recently just on grit alone :)

  9. Karen Says:

I knew Kristen would come in here and tell me to snap out of it. :poke: She’s right. I need to snap out of it!

Rob I’m so glad you’ve written on grit alone! Good for you. Sometimes you just gotta do it…

  10. Susan Helene Gottfried Says:

Sounds like you need to put the book aside for a day or two and write something totally frivolous and fun, that you have no intention of doing anything with. Just to have fun and to fall in love with your characters.

Then you’ll either have a new book idea or have realized the value of what you’re already working on.

    Rock on. :wootrock:

  11. Amy Ruttan Says:

Ugh I don’t know. I’ve been googling when I am have so much to write.

I need some too, I’ll go over to Divas. LOL. :bounce:
