Distracted

distracted

I’m having a hard time focusing. On the writing bit. Here we are about three weeks from the RWA National Conference in San Francisco and I’m not ready. I should be working on writing, on pitching, on adding to my new wardrobe. Hell I should be working on something that’s RWA-related.

Instead I’m sitting around sweltering in the heat. Or I’m splashin’ in the pool with the kids so we won’t swelter. Or I read and think to myself, man you should write. Then I watch TV. Or I sit in front of my computer and do…nothing.

I blame summer. Kids are home and distracting. There are also fun things going on. Lately it’s just plain too hot and it’s so much more fun to just be a slug. Well, I think I’m sluggish only because of the weather. Please I’m begging for a ninety degree day - today is slated for 112!! Isn’t that just freaking unnatural?

Okay what are you doing so far this summer? What are your upcoming plans? Will I see you in San Francisco? Are you going somewhere awesome? Or just staying home?

I’m definitely distracted. Although I’m not sure why. I think I have so much to do I can’t do anything, if that makes sense.

Gah. I only WISH I could attend RWA events one of these days! I am doing a whole lot of nothing once my work days is over and a few chores are completed at home.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll pull something fabulous together at the last minute; I was always good at that!

    Have fun at the conference!

Count me in as distracted also–esp with the kids home and it seems like it’s been one thing after another. The dishwasher’s been broke a month, then the ice maker went and after three years I finally broke down and fixed the A/C (it was much cheaper than I thought it would be). Maybe now I can get some writing done

Yeah the kids are a huge part of it. I’m so mean but I can’t wait for school to start back up!

Feist I feel the same way. There are so many things I want to do but I can’t seem to focus and actually do them! Ugh!

  5. Amy Ruttan Says:

You’ll see me in Frisco baby.

YEs, I am as unorganized as you with respect to Frisco. I am terrified of pitching and have no clothes. BAD COMBINATION!! :boob:

Other than editing I have been slacking with watching Doctor Who … um and writing dirty fan fiction for it. :tmi: :evillaugh:

  6. Shelli Says:

I can’t seem to write on the ultra hot days. Just sit around and say ‘why, god, why!?’

I’m also all giddy over San Fran. So I can’t start a big exciting book. I do need to finish a novella though.

    :trolls:

112? Man, and here I thought that 79 (26C, I’m Canadian) was a little too hot.

I’m not distracted these days. I’m burnt out. This year has been a pretty constant stream of kicks to my ego and I’m cocooning until the bruises heal.

We’re just hanging out here, no SF for us, too pricey. Next two years will be on the east coast, so that works out better for me. :) Have fun, though. :)

I think nothing kills the will to write more than the word “should.”
