Get out your highlighter

get-out-your-highlighter

So I had an absolute fabulous fourth of July. It was very family orientated. My cousins from across the country came up and spent it with us. I finally got to meet my guy cousin’s wife and kids–and I love them!

Here are the highlights/grosslights/scarylights of my weekend:

1. Finding a dead shark in the boat launch (yes, a shark in cold water, I’m still pondering this!)  (grosslights)

2. One of the kids tossing a firework into the fire next to where I was sitting, not realizing there was still some bang left in it (scarylight)

3.  Driving past my grandparents old house and walking around the campus of University of Washington where our grandpa used to be the dean of law school. (highlight)

4. Eating homemade cheesecake my cousin’s wife made (orgasmic highlight)

5.  Watching how excited the kids were to go crabbing (highlight)

6. Watching the crab die in a pot of boiling water for the family’s consumption (grosslight and I so did not eat it)

7. My kid running after those parachute fireworks. (highlight)

8.  Trying to keep my kid from running off the edge of fort at Fort Casey. (scarylight)

9. Reverting to my inner teenager/child by lighting off fireworks and playing with the kids. (highlight)

10.Exploring the joy of garage saleing with teenage boys. (highlight)

So what were some of your highlight from Independence Day weekend? Or if you’re not American, how about just the weekend? Do anything fun?

Nothing special happened. It was a very quiet weekend.

You can find sharks all over. There are even six species of freshwater sharks. None here in North America though.

The one you saw probably drowned. Most sharks can’t pump water over their gills, they don’t have the muscles for it. If they don’t keep swimming, they can’t breath. The one you saw probably got trapped in the boat launch.

Oooh interesting about the sharks. Thanks for the info Rob. Seriously I had no clue.

Sounds like you had a great weekend! I had a migraine. My weekend kinda sucked. Wah.

Rhian, that is so awesome about the Samhain books over there! And the Nora! See romance is getting around :) And congrats on your 100th review!

Rob, thanks for the link! This guy died of maybe getting hit by a motor or something. He had a big gash in his side and this cottage cheese stuff was pouring out of him. I couldn’t eat dinner later it was so gross.

    Karen, por bracieta! Hugs!

I ate way too much sugar, which I never due. All this lying around makes me crave bad, bad things.

  6. Shelli Says:

Feisty so did I! And I’m usually really good. I’m starting a 3 week until Nationals hardcore health plan tomorrow :)

I spent the 3 day weekend celebratin the mom’s birthday which was on the 2nd (she had work and her standard Wednesday night mediation) with some awesome b-bque made my the dadster. That had to be the highlight since I spent 3+ hours earlier in the day workin on school since I have a notebook, writing assignment, and manual(that I have to write) all due within days of each other!! Can you say :wtf: !!!! Oh well, at least I’ll have my degree and potential for great jobs once I’m done, right?

Saw the family 4th pics and y’all look like you had a blast!! The pic of the munchkin holding hands with her teenager male cousin is the cutest!

  8. Shelli Says:

Your weekend sounded fun, too, Danielle! BBQ’s are yummity yum. And yeah the second cousins were so cute with Emma!!

  9. Christine Morris Says:

After being laid up for 3 days because of (previously mentioned) tree, we decided to take the dogs to the fireworks in town. My dog loves fireworks….Ricks dog, not so much….after fighting to hang on to her throughout 1/2 of fireworks she finally crawled into the back window of the pick up truck and refused to come out even for the ride home.
