My lucky charms

So I’m not really a huge believer in good luck charms. (Though I did just write a novella that centers around one!) But in the past year I changed my min a bit. I picked up three that were writing related. Though I never convinced myself they’d help me strike it big in my writing, I just thought they’d be good to look over at on my dresser to keep me focused. Keep my eyes on the prize!
The first lucky charm was a bit out of my control. I won it at the Elephant exchange at my chapter holiday party. What was it? A oh so charming Casanova figurine. (You know they make librarian ones too!)
The second item I picked up was a stuffed armadillo doll in the Dallas airport. I was inspired after the ‘armadillo talk’ at one of the luncheons.
And the third I bought was a Nora Roberts bobble head doll. You did know they existed, right? Well there not easy to come by. I bought mine on Ebay and I’m sure I was bidding against some other romance writer just dying to get their hands on it. I grew up reading La Nora, and after hearing her speak at the PRO retreat in Atlanta I came to respect her/like her even more. She’s smart, funny, an inspiring. And I’m so amazed with what she’d done with her career, that when I learned she had a bobble head I just knew it must join my lucky charms collection.
So all three sit on my dresser. I stare at them all the time. And maybe it’s a coincidence, but since I acquired the trio I did sell to NY and get an agent. So those lucky charms? Keeping them!
How about you? Anyone else have a ‘lucky charm’ or item?

Hmmm not really but I think I need a Nora Roberts bobble head! LMAO
I do have my glass heart that sits by my laptop but I don’t necessarily consider it my lucky glass heart. Maybe I need to start doing that…

OMG! I so want a Nora bobble head! (I originally typed booble head, but thankfully I caught my mistake).
I don’t have any good luck charms. Not that I don’t believe in them, just haven’t found one yet.

I have a collection of bats on my desk and white board next to my computer - flying bats not the other kind - I sold my first books after I started collecting them. My other thing is whenever I mail a submission I have to play the same song on my way to post the parcel - Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams. Dunno why but works for me.

Karen, see it’s an object you kind of relate to your writing! So I’d count it! I have a glass heart somewhere too (I think it was a paper weight) but my kid ran off with it.
Emma, it’s so much fun to have something.
Lanie, I know isn’t the bobble head funny? I have a brother who collects all sports ones. So I thought… hey, they made one for me!
Nell, I think that’s awesome you play a song each time! And it’s a good song! :)

I love Nora’s books, but that bobble head would freak me out… scary! LOL
I have turtles all over the house — jade, stone, plastic, wood. . .they are supposed to be a Feng Shui symbol for good luck, long life. I don’t have an elephant figurine, but I remember my mother did, and they said the trunk should always face the door for good luck.
Weirdly, my husband got a Sherlock Holmes “action figure” is all I can think to call it, and I liked it so much I put it in here by my desk, and over the last few months have been writing a mystery… so there you have it, I suppose.
I like that kind of thing, but not the scary bobble head… LOL

Bobble heads, in general, are a good thing.

Oh, Sam, I love the turtle thing! My grandma collected them, too!
Feisty, bobble it! Just bobble it!

Actually, I didn’t know about the Nora heads…I bet my sis (Marcella) who collects everything Nora doesn’t know either, other wise it would be on my list from her of things to look out for.

Scarlet, they were given away at a minor league baseball game I think. In her home town. I could be wrong, but that’s what I seem to remember. So really, you can only find them on Ebay I’m sure.
