Heart Palpitations
My God, my God, my God. I’m blogging mere minutes after my husband and I discovered a rattlesnake on our back porch. Yes a RATTLESNAKE on our BACK PORCH. Facing off with one of my cats. Coiled and rattling and ready to strike.
I’m so lame I thought it was our sprinklers coming on again. And I complained to my husband, what’s wrong with those things? They keep coming on!
Um no dear it’s a freaking RATTLESNAKE.
It took a couple of shots but my husband finally killed him. Oh he was big. And scary. But this is what happens when you live in the country. You deal with the cute critters (like the bunnies! so precious) and the not so cute critters. **Shudders**
A couple of summers ago we found another one coiled on our back porch. He didn’t like the sound of my voice so he rattled like crazy every time I talked then went back behind the BBQ which is against the house. My husband shot him once in the head with a bb gun and killed him. I thought that was so macho it kind of turned me on.
We’re weird in the country.
I know Feist can relate to this - she just had a snake tale herself. Gah! Sometimes I miss living in my apartment!

Okay, thanks for talking me out of wanting to live in the country. SCREW THAT! I’ll take my freeway noise and traffic…for now. :) Until I have my own macho man to whisk me off to the country and blow the heads off animals/reptiles/child molesters that threaten our lives.

We do have a child molester that lives a couple of miles away Shell. Hub calls his house Neverland.

That’s so wrong on so many level…that you have one nearby. Not that he calls his house Neverland. I totally get that.

Shell! If we move to Alaska we wouldnt have to worry about the rattlers. :D See so we can still go! North! North to ALASKA!

I’m pretty sure I would not have taken the time to get my camera and snap a picture… and you look WAAAY too close in the picture! Mind you, I lived in squaw valley and we had many a rattlesnake… but it takes and act of god and a good pair of ear plugs (to get past the screaming) when I have to “deal” with a spider…let alone a snake! AND I do NOT take pictures!
Is it just me or has there been an outbreak of spiders lately?

Sweetie I did not take that pic, I found it on the web. There is no way in hell I would get that close to that mother f’ing snake and take his picture. Gaaaaah….

Ha ha ha everyone thinks you took the pic. If I took a pic of the snake, it would’ve been of his head…cut off from the body.

I don’t have to deal with snakes like that THANK GOD. There is a rattle snake around here called a Mississauga Rattler. I’ve never seen one.
Mostly around where I live is skunks or the odd cougar. And by cougars I mean both the ones hanging around bars and the ones that will gobble up the neighborhood cats.

Many moons ago, I ‘met’ a fellow newbie blogger thanks to a rattlesnake.
One of Thomma Lyn’s (of Tennessee Text Wrestling)first posts was about a rattlesnake that she and hubby found in their shed. A few days later, she posted a rattlesnake recipe.
That’s right - they ate the sucker in a nice cream sauce!
I thought to myself - This woman is the coolest person in the world - and best-blog-buds were born.
She claimed it tasted like chicken ;)
