Happy Birthday Naughty and Spice!

Today I would like to give away a copy of both of my books to one person who comments on this post. I will pull a name and give the books away at the end of the night tonight PST. So at lets say 10 PM PST.

I know this is breaking the rules for the idea of a green giveaway… I simply don’t have any softcopies of my stories to give.

I started writing in 2004 and I found for me when I tried to think of all the rules when writing doing so simply restricted my creativity. It was really hard for me to suspend reality… I had to literally say to myself… anything can happen… Once I did that I was able to write a good story… it was of course my very first erotic story where this came into play NIGHT OF THE TAKING. NOTT is a paranormal so the “anything can happen” bit certainly held… Cat people with a once a year mating ritual…hummm the possibilities… kidnapping, public group sex, bondage, all these came into play.

The funny thing is… most of the inspiration for me came from reading a book called Hell Fire Clubs which is based on history. So what felt like breaking the rules for me was simply doing the nasty, dirty, things that others had accepted and done for ages.

My heroine in the second story in What She Craves… breaks society rules herself… being a widow…and a woman who is determined to prove she can please a man in bed she accepts and invitation to a naughty masked ball.

Since I have started writing and researching all the different forms of sexuality for my books, and for my own knowledge and enlightenment, Blush, doors have opened up in my mind. I have found… that breaking the rules for me seems to be simply about learning about things, expanding my knowledge, and coming to grips with how I honestly feel about them. In doing so, in breaking down those barriers and the rules I had in my mind, I discovered I am a bit kinky, and… well damn… very sexual… and well not at all who I was when all those damn rules were in place. I am simply more me.

But see… all of what I learn, no matter if I personally like what I discover or not, is creative influence in my writing.

I love being a part of this group! I can’t believe I’ve made a post every Thursday for the last year. Where did the time go? How did I come up with so many clever posts? Why does my cell phone not work at the Stanyan Park hotel in San Francisco?

Wow, I can’t believe one year has already passed! Time truly does fly. When we started this blog I knew it would be a lot of fun, a place to go wild and crazy, a place to share silly and serious ideas with people of like minds.

365 Days Later here we are. Still alive and kicking. You know when Shelli first came to me and asked me to be a Nas(ty) Girl I was very hesitant because I was already involved in one group blog. Did I have the time? Did I have the energy, and just how many crazy-ass, off the wall blog topics could I come up with? A group blog is a group effort and a huge undertaking.

That said, I’m so proud over how well we’ve done here and what we’ve made, that I could just burst at the seams!

Personally, 365 days ago my first print book was released. Today I’m celebrating another release*.  It’s been a crazy year, full of a lot of challenges (teenagers, agents, deadlines, a puppy (WTF) broken dishwashers!), but I wouldn’t trade it or this writing gig for anything.

Now, instead of looking back. Let’s look forward. What’s one thing you’d like to accomplish in the next 365 days?

Holy macaroni and cheese, but it’s been one year since we launched Naughty and Spice! Can you believe it?! I barely can. So much has happened in this past year. And then again…so much hasn’t.

While I’m typing this post out, I have a chef in the kitchen whipping up a cake for our celebration. He was so sweet to let me take a quick picture of him. I’ve included a picture of the cake and the recipe at the end of this post

Week after week we talk about anything and everything here. We laugh at the word discretion. Because if we can’t have one place on the internet to just let loose, then where’s all the fun in that? We’ve talked about our sex toys, hair dye for down south, women we’d do if we swung that way…we just like to discuss it all.

A year ago I was dreaming of selling to NY and getting an agent. A week ago that became a reality. That’s where I’ve come so far. Where have I actually gone backward? Or lost ground? Oooooh, that thing called having a love life.

The very first Naughty and Spice post–and my first post here–was all about that toe curling passion. I’d just had a kiss that was nice, but didn’t quite knock my socks off. I made it a vow to keep looking for the one that would.

Have I found it? No. Have I attempted to find it? Double no. My love life has actually gotten worse in the past year… which if you’d told me then that was possible, I would have laughed in your face. But sadly, it is possible.

So my goal for the next year? Well, to also sell a book that isn’t erotic to New York (but still sensual!) and maybe even to…get some? Yeah I said it. To get some. Even if some is just a hot and heavy make out session. It’d be a good start.
