What hair color are you?

what-hair-color-are-you

I just realized that I’ve never written a blonde heroine. I have no idea why this is, I have nothing against blondes. I, myself, have been one on several occasions. So why have I never been inspired to create a fair-haired beauty? The answer is: I have no idea.

My current heroine has black hair and striking blue eyes. She’s very controlled, very serious. She likes to get tied up and have naughty things done to her. When I picture her with light hair, it just doesn’t work at all. I have no idea why. I know plenty of naughty blondes.

My heroine in I Love Lacy is a redhead. Well, the title says it all, really. She’s quirky and a bit off. Come to think of it, she also likes to be tied up and have naughty things done to her. Could she have been a blonde? Maybe. But what if Lucille Ball was blonde? Not quite the same impact.

Let’s see. My heroine in my Spice Brief has long brown hair. She’s a chef and wears her hair back in a bandana all the time. She needs to be tough; she’s in charge of a bunch of chefs in a top Vegas restaurant. Could she have been a blonde? Maybe, but it works better to have her dark-haired and really serious. (And yes, she likes to be restrained and have naughty things done to her. Shocking, I know.)

So. I could go on, but you get the picture. I don’t seem to identify with female heroines who are blonde. But, I don’t mind a blond hero. In fact, I am basing my next hero on Joe Anderson. He’s yummy.

Anyway, obviously I tend to prefer blonde heroines. Am I the only one with these bizarre hair tendencies?

I’ve had lots of blonde heroines. And I always like the blonde chicks on America’s Next Top Model. In fact I believe I’ve said on this very blog before that if I were a lesbian, I’d probably only date blonde chicks.

    Heh heh heh…

    :wootrock:

  2. Feisty Says:

You’re a sexy blonde, Karen. I’d do you. I mean, you have laced me into a corset. That was pretty hot.

  3. Mel-O-Drama Says:

What’s funny is that I have to force myself to NOT write blond heroines. I don’t know why. I guess maybe deep down I think blonds do have more fun?

  4. Shelli Says:

That’s interesting, Feisty! I think I make a conscious effort to switch the hair color, height, and eye color of my characters. So I think I’ve done every option all different possible ways.

    But you know… I think I’ve done MORE blondes….

  5. Feisty Says:

I think the darker my heroine’s character, the darker her hair!

  6. Amie Stuart Says:

I’m like Shel…I’ve consciously tried to do different hair colors. But sometimes a character is what they are LOL

  7. Emma Petersen Says:

OMG. Joe Anderson. There is something so f’ing sexy about that man.

I don’t think much about my heroine’s hair color. Hmmm…One heroine/villianess that sticks out in my mind is Eve. I wonder if that’s because of her hair color or because she’s so delisciously wicked? Hmmm… :boob:

  8. Lia Morgan Says:

I am partial to red heads. I have written a few blondes, but I tend to make the heroine’s hair a red shade. I have written hair the color of copper. My current heroine hair is a deep, dark red, almost black.

  9. Rob Graham Says:

Nope. My heroines are usually redheads or raven haired, because those are my two favourite colours.

My heroes have always been either brown haired or greying.

The one work where my heroine is blonde, she’s also a platinum blonde.

And I do have a WIP where one of the heroines is blonde, but a sandy blonde. ;)
