It's historical fiction but the characters were real - Katherine Swynford and John of Gaunt, and it takes place in the 14th century. Most romantic book ever...hmm, well it suer as heck ain't Gone with the Wind. I never did feel that was overly romantic. I'm not sure I COULD pick just one. I'm terrible with books. I never remember them. I mean I remember them, but not the names. So I'm going to say it was this norman/saxon one. Totally hot and romantic.
