Millionaire Matchmaker Part Deux

Okay I know she really pissed off Shelli with her curly hair comment but I gotta admit something - I find Patti the Millionaire Matchmaker and the show on Bravo absolutely fascinating.

Photobucket First of all, she’s nuts. No, seriously. I think anyone who is that driven and can create something out of virtually nothing (i.e. a matchmaking service for millionaires) has to be a little crazy. Wait, for rich people it’s not crazy. The term is eccentric (my former boss the rich guy told me that).

Sometimes her views are spot on. Like all of these mid-40’s bachelors who suddenly realize they need a wife, stat. And they gravitate towards the young, hot mid-20s type chick. Not a good match, Patti always warns them. It’s not going to work. I’d say nine times out of ten, she’s right.

I also liked the episode where she dug deep with the player who’s never been in love. This is what I remember her asking him:

“So have you ever been in a long term relationship?”

“Yeah, for a month or so.”

“No, that doesn’t count. Okay, no long term relationships. Have you ever been in love?”

“No, I don’t think so.”

“Ever owned a pet?”

“Nope.”

“Do you have a houseplant? Something, anything you need to take care of?”

“Uh, no.”

“Okay then you’ve never been responsible for or taken care of anyone in your entire life.”

That conversation rang about a million (ha!) bells for me inside my head. “Save this!” my mind screeched. “Use this later for some tortured hero who doesn’t know how to love!”

So…yeah. I did stuff that little tidbit away and I plan on using it. And though she may be crazy and a little bitchy, I gotta say Patti makes great TV.  And I can’t stop watching her.

Damn reality TV…always sucks me right in.

Dang you Clarice. I was able to resist the first time you mentioned this show but tonight I turned to Bravo and it was on! Wah! I’m supposed to be writing. Leila’s totally gonna spank me.

p.s. I caught her in a middle of a meltdown and yes I think she might be a little touched.

  2. Shelli Says:

I understand the draw of reality tv, really I do. But I just refuse to succumb! That’s great about using it for a book, Karen!

  3. Bailey Stewart Says:

What a great insight into a character.

I have so much reality TV that I can’t add anything else. What with AI, Ghost Hunters and then Dancing with the Stars starting up in March.

  4. Karen Says:

She is touched Emma. She’s nuts.

Shelli I don’t know how you resist. I must be a very weak person.

And Bailey I’m glad you’re a reality tv junkie. I need a kindred spirit. If you catch it on Bravo (cos you know, they always run marathons of their shows) watch it. It’s interesting. Really. LOL

  5. Feisty Says:

Oh, I haven’t seen this one, but I think I must. I love reality TV. What about The Housewives of Orange County? They make me feel really good about myself. That’s why I watch it. :trolls:

  6. Bailey Stewart Says:

A marathon? :wall: :surrender: I have enough of a problem with the 4 hours of Ghost Hunters on Wednesday nights. You know, Ghost Hunters, that show you didn’t want to know about that’s on Wedndesday nights on Sci-Fi? Because, you know, you didn’t hear it from me … :trolls:

  7. Shelli Says:

Oooh I could easily get hooked on Ghost Hunters. And that new one about UFO’s. TOTALLY!

    :wootrock:

  8. Karen Says:

    Bailey you’re funny.

Feist you must be lying. Those OC housewives make me feel like a shmuck. I mean, yeah they can be complete idiots but damn they have a lot of money. And nice houses. Sigh. Now the NY housewives are starting up. Gonna watch? Buwahahahahaha…

  9. Bailey Stewart Says:

Shelli - hated UFO Hunters. Hated.Hated.Hated.Hated.

But don’t let me dissuade you.

  10. Mel-O-Drama Says:

I love Millionaire Matchmaker! I do. It’s a trainwreck, yes, but really, it’s also a treasure trove of some great tidbits!

“Chateau Ghetto!” I mean, that’s awesome!

And I watched the hair episode and frankly, I agree with her on that instance. NOT that all curly hair is bad, because that’s just BS. But that THAT woman’s hair was poorly conditioned and she didn’t flat iron it, she tried to straighten it with a brush and blowdryer. She would’ve been better off leaving it curly than what she did with it.

I have to say, Patty has been more right than wrong and I enjoy her style. She cracks me up.

Shelli, you’re curly hair is beautiful. Your hair is not poorly conditioned and in bad shape like that chick’s hair was. Don’t worry. Patty wasn’t talking about you.

  11. Karen Says:

Mel I told Shelli the same thing. That chick’s hair was a NIGHTMARE. It totally looked like she tried to straighten it w/ a brush and a dryer. I bet if she conditioned that stuff and got a major trim it would look nice. She was a beautiful girl with really bad hair.

And I loved chateau ghetto! He did live in a dump. :sup:

  12. Shelli Says:

    LOL!!!

Bailey, I haven’t seen it. Does it really suck? :( Bummer!

Mel and Karen, but she seemed to be dissing everyone with curls on the Ellen show. Not just that chick (they did show the clip of her talking to that chick, and yes, her hair sucked!)

Thanks for the compliments on my hair! You make me so…

    :cloud9:

  13. Jana J. Hanson Says:

The OC housewives make me feel so very unpretty (perhaps because everything about me is natural and most of them do not appear to be…)

The NY housewives, on the other hand…

It’s Bravo TV, Karen, I swear. When there’s nothing else on, I find myself glued to it.

  14. Shelli Says:

I kind of want to watch that show that was on Oprah? How to love yourself naked or something. On Lifetime? I think? That looks pretty good. Though I have very little issues with my body naked. LOL. Or maybe I fake confidence really well.

  15. Amie Says:

*sigh* I’ll pass. But I totally LURVE CLean House..it inspires me (and AI and The Biggest Loser) and that’s about where i draw the line though I have been known to watch some of those bride shows on accident :evillaugh:

  16. Karen Says:

Bravo TV is the bomb. LOL

I’ve heard of that show Shell but I haven’t seen it. And yes it’s on Lifetime. I watch that party show on Lifetime. Party planners who put together shindigs w/ $250k budgets. I don’t lie. These parties are AMAZING. Sigh.

    I want to be rich.

  17. Dominique Says:

I can’t watch the show. It’s too annoying.
