Slacker

“I have a tendency, when I’m working on one thing, to doodle around and work on other things, to avoid what I’m doing.”

– George Lucas

I just read this quote tonight in February’s issue of Vanity Fair (which I had to buy cos Shia Labeouf is on the cover and I have a little crush on him and he looks so damn cute on the cover with Harrison Ford!  But that’s another blog post. Wait I already did that blog post!) and it really hit home.  I do this all the time, though George is referring to, oh you know, working on a current movie and then deciding to fiddle with another Star Wars idea or something. Much more productive than, ahem, me.

This month has been a testament to that for sure. I had such grand plans to kick off 2008 with a bang. Work hard, write harder. Crack that whip girl, get it in gear and start working!

Instead, I’ve compiled a list of places I visit when I should be writing. It’s embarrassing what a slacker I’ve become.  So here we go:

** Jigzone, the biggest time waster EVER! I have wasted quite a few evenings lately at this place. It’s addicting! I even got my husband into it. Sigh. This is the place I should cut off FIRST.

** TMZ, shameful that I go here but I do. Damn it, I want to know what’s going on with Britney. And the latest on She’s a Scientologist Femme-Bot Katie Holmes! I can’t help myself. There. I admitted it.

** Romance Divas, because as one of the lovely Divas put it, I work from home and this is my office where I go to catch up on the latest chit chat. Love this place! Proudly declare this addiction!

** Passionate Ink, Feisty sucked me back in! It’s rockin’ right now, if you aren’t a member yet, you should join.

** Myspace, cos I’m lame.

Please share your favorite places you go to, ahem, unwind, kill time, procrastinate from working on that latest story. Give me somewhere new to hang out!

Okay the only one not on my list is that jigzone one. Because I HATE puzzles. LOL. Like so not the side of my brain I use hate them. My kid likes them though, so she’s fortunate to have that side.

And DAMN now I need to go to TMZ. Nice. Not like I was trying to finish a book tonight or anything.

    :poke:

First off, I’m a subscription whore. Books, music…they come to my Inbox, which is my first stop-off. Also LiveJournal comments and Facebook stuff.

Once my 4 email accounts are done, I move onto

    -Facebook
-Bank account (just to see if I’ve received any more payments before I hit…)
    -eBay
    -Then my two Google Readers
-Then my two LiveJournal Friends Lists…

The first of the month is always busy, posting reviews from the last month. Every Monday involves checking the ARIA Charts and Sanity’s Coming Soon Music…

This actually takes a couple of hours. And more time when I check again in the afternoon and evening ;-)

    I’m so lame.

    Have a lovely day! :-)
