Halloween - Good or Evil?

halloween-good-or-evil

I’m keeping the Halloween theme this week, since today IS Halloween and all.

Anywho, I’m at Target a few weeks ago and I walk out to my TRUCK (Feist will get that cos she has a TRUCK too) to find an orange flyer on it, proclaiming Halloween is the DEVIL.

It was filled with horrific stories on how you should keep your children close, this is the time of year when witches celebrate and cults go on the search for animals and CHILDREN to sacrifice. I kid you not, it said children!

Now, listen up folks. There are some creepy people out there and you know what, life sucks. Yes we need to keep our children close, yes we need to watch out cos it’s terrible to say, but evil is lurking out there. But to ruin a holiday that in my mind doesn’t celebrate anything but having fun spooking around, dressing up in costumes and gorging ourselves on candy is just wrong in my book.

I love Halloween! So do my kids. I have a lot of traditions wrapped around this holiday and I’m not going to quit them because certain groups say it’s a celebration of the devil. I’m not celebrating the devil, I’m celebrating CANDY baby! And costumes. And fun.  So let’s not rain on the Halloween parade okay? Please?

Look Emma it’s Toussaint!

LMAO! It IS! It totally is my Toussaint! :nener:

  2. Shelli Says:

First, OMG, Loooove the pumpkin with the talking witch!

And to the people who want to ban Halloween, or try and tell us how evil it is, and then invite us to a Harvest Party….

    :fu:

  3. Emma Says:

LMAO Shell. Le sigh. I know there is a devil. I know there is evil but I kinda get tired of folks blaming EVERYTHING on the devil. They seem to forget along with evil you have free will. You only do the things you WANT to do.

And that includes sacrificing black cats (WHICH REALLY PISSES ME OFF! Not that I’m encouraging people to kill animals of any kind but damn can’t they change it from black cats to Siamese?) children and all other small farm animals. People who do those type of horrific things would do them whether it was Halloween or Columbus Day.

  4. Karen Says:

So true Emma! If you’re evil, you’re gonna be evil whenever you want, not just Halloween.

    :diebastard: Evil jerks.

  5. Rachel.C Says:

There’s a party pooper in every group. :diebastard:
What really pi***** me off is the people that what you to join their band wagon. It seems that more and more now days that don’t want you to join the wagon, they want to run you over with the bloody thing. Who died and made them God, anyway? Why is what they think right and what I think not?
    Grrr…..
    Man that makes me mad.
I can’t believe the crap people do. What? Didn’t they get to dress up when they were little? It’s amazing how warped the human brain can be. I don’t think they’re that much further up the ladder than those evil people they talk about.

Sorry off the soap box now.

    Have a great Halloween. :woot:

  6. Emma Says:

Ummm…can anyone tell me why I’m up at 4:18 in the morning? Damn you Diet Pepsi!

  7. JAC Says:

Being Pagan, I get a little nuts when people say Halloween is evil and its about worshipping the Devil. What claptrap. I have no patience for scare tactics and superstition in religion. Modern Halloween is supposed to be about fun and there’s no hidden agenda in it.

  8. Lyra Says:

Sometimes these people really tick me off. And sometimes I think, “Great, more candy for me!”

It’s really scary to talk to their kids, because they parrot everything their parents say with such perfect sincerity.

  9. Karen Says:

Thanks ladies I agree with you all - modern Halloween is definitely about fun and I’m tired of people trying to rain on its parade and make it EVIL. Puh-leez. Irritating.

And Emma you were up at 4 in the morning? Aaaack! I wish I was still asleep.

  10. Rob Graham Says:

There’s an ancient Taoist saying that I keep close to my heart.

    “What you resist, you become.”

And that’s what has happened to the people that put that flyer on Karen’s truck.

Evil is about spreading fear, anger and pain. These people just helped that cause.

    So sad.

  11. Emma Says:

:boob: Yep, Diddy. Went to bed at 5 and woke up at 9! Woot! :wootrock: Go lack of sleep! :woot:

  12. Lillian Says:

    Ya’ll are going to hell.

    See ya there.

  13. Karen Says:

    Rob — Word, dude.

Emma — You’re crazy. Get some sleep woman!

Feist — I’ll bring the snacks. Will you bring the drinks??

  14. Amie Stuart Says:

    I’ll bring the music!!!!!!!!!!! :badgirl:

  15. Laura K Says:

:diebastard: Amen, sister. Subbed in an elementary school today- these kids were jacked on the promise of candy. I recall those days. A bunch of us strategically :pirate: cased the best houses on the south side of Chicago for the BEST candy and other goodies. I remember altering my costume once so I could get another order of fries from the neighborhood hot dog place and juicies from the funeral home. We vote often and early in Chicago and I guess…we do the same trick-o-treating!!

  16. Chris Roberts Says:

There is always someone who has to take it too far. How else will they get the attention they crave??

  17. Lynn Matherly Says:

    I’ll bring the A/C… hehehehehehe

  18. Rachel.C Says:

I’m coming to hell with all as long as someone brings the half naked hunks to serve the drinks.
