At A Loss

at-a-loss

Well…after Feisty’s blog post on the big Rotisserie vs Double P, I’m at a loss as to what to blog about. It should be scintilating, it should be interesting, it should make at least a part of you sit up and take notice. And not in a bad way.

Hmmmmmm we all know that size matters–especially if he’s got a short tongue–so that one’s out. And we all know you can deck your kitty out for the holidays. Or strip her bare. And that female on male penetration will get a rise out of some folks :evillaugh:

So what is there left to cover?

Oh yeah….writing. :hitit:

Am I the only poor slob who’s noticed that the further you get, the harder it gets or am I sitting here with my ass in the wind all by my lonesome (and under deadline). :wtf:

I LOVE writing sex, and will probably continue to write graphic sex, because that’s how I role roll, but I will freely admit that I’m tired of writing it. I think a part of me feels that I’ve conquered it and it’s time to move on to other things now, love ya buh-bye. So what’s next?

Definitely a few futuristics (please writing gods let some lovely editor fall in love with my crazy-ass futuristic SOON), though I do find myself wondering after three books there what I can come up with, and definitely a few young adults…yes you heard me right.  Young Adult…and paranormal to boot (yeah it’s plotted).  And I actually do have a few erotic romances in the pipeline, but I’ll be honest again and tell you they feel suspiciously like women’s fiction with hot sex.

So tell me about your growing pains…. I KNOW I’m not alone…how did you cope and what did you tackle and you know….spill it  :bounce:

…or am I sitting here with my ass in the wind all by my lonesome…

Yup. How’s that wind shear?

Ok, well…can’t comment on ‘the further I get’–but I am thinking more along the lines of light romance with hot sex, and also speculative fiction. Love a well-done “what if”.

  2. admin Says:

Ok…….what exactly IS speculative fiction? rasta

  3. Shelli Says:

I totally agree with the further in the harder it gets! Seriously. And I totally agree with the try new things and genres. I’ve got a few ideas up my sleeve too :)

  4. Rob Graham Says:

Speculative fiction is the term Science Fiction people apply to the genre to take some of the stigma away from it. Science Fiction is almost as pejorative a term as Romance for some people.

My biggest problem these days is working up the energy to write at all. But that’s because my depression is reasserting itself. Going back on my meds should clear that up.

As far as writing about sex goes, I still like it. A lot. Trying to make it more interesting than putting Tab A into Slot B is getting to be a bit of a challenge.

  5. raine Says:

I think Rob’s mostly right, but sci-fi usually implies elements of science or technology.
To make it simple, from Wikipedia:
In organizational or marketing contexts, science fiction can be synonymous with the broader definition of speculative fiction, encompassing creative works incorporating imaginative elements not found in contemporary reality; this includes fantasy, horror, and related genres.

    Ok, going away now…

I know what you mean Amie. I can feel a little burned out sometimes and I think it shows in my writing which is soooo not good. I’ve been branching out a bit, trying to do different things (a historical — aack!). Right now though I’m so excited by what I’m working on it’s just flowing which is nice. And lately, rare.

You can do it baby! And I’m sure someone is gonna love those crazy futuristics! And nothing wrong w/ YA - just don’t write hot sexy YA! LMAO

I’m a :badgirl: for even saying that.

  7. Lynn Matherly Says:

Yeah, hot sexy YA could end up in some smut store being read by some pedophile (YUK!!!) :boob:

You can do it. A writer is meant to write… whatever it is. Write what feels “right” to you. Cuz if you don’t like it, why would someone else? :poke:

  8. Lillian Says:

    I can’t stop editing! :fu:

You know with my current project writing sex is different this time around. It started with a girl/girl scene and I’m at 12k and there hasnt been any straight girl/guy :hump:. I do believe this is the dirtiest book I’ve ever written to date but there’s something about it that…

LMAO. With this book I’m definitely not tired of writing sex.
