Pushing Daisies

pushing-daisies

I just watched a new dark comedy, Pushing Daisies, on ABC. Finally! A good show on TV! I love it. Totally clever idea and the best part is there is finally a show on television that features awesome sexual chemistry between the male and female leads. If you want to read about the premise, here is a good article.

So, it’s a really good show and this guy, Lee Pace, is really cute.

I can’t remember the last time I’ve been excited about a television show. Plus, Lee Pace is really cute. Did I say that already?

Anyway, I admit I’m a total dork and I love a good romantic comedy. Has there been anything good since Friends? I was so sad when it ended. I haven’t looked forward to anything on TV since. Except Rock of Love, but I’m afraid that only illustrates how low my standards have become. But it looks like that might all change with Pushing Daisies! Have you seen it? If so, what do you think? If not, what are your favorite shows right now?

Favorite shows: Californication, Entourage, Dexter, Rescue Me. And if you’re into torrents, check out the Australian comedies Kath & Kim and Summer Heights High. Bloody funny stuff!

  2. Christine d'Abo Says:

I keep hearing about how good this show is. I’m going to have to check it out.

I loved Pushing Daisies, and yes, he’s cute, and he has just enough complexity of character so far to make him interesting. They hit all the right beats off the bat, secrets, sexual tension, romance, and mystery. What I could do without is the narration. It was starting to get irritating, and the show improved once the narrator shut his trap — hope they minimize that.

I also am loving Journeyman and ambivalent about Chuck, which if you like PD, you might also enjoy — the problem with Chuck is that the male characters are great, but the female lead is very weak, and I think it makes the show uneven. I don’t think it will last, but watching it anyway.

Heroes is coming back strong, LOST is off until Jan, so I hear.

Shelli raved on about this show to me last night so I’m thinking I need to give it a shot. I love a good romantic comedy with strong sexual tension. It makes me happy. LOL rasta

FEISTY!!! Holy SHIT woman! I just watched this last night (and as you know I don’t watch tv!) I just happened to turn it on, and loved the whole Tim Burton feel. Did you get that vibe? I really enjoyed it. Though I did bitch about the lack of a hook at the end. So I can’t guarantee I’ll come back next week (since I don’t watch tv and all). :nener:

  6. Lillian Says:

Gabrielle, I haven’t seen any of those shows. Do we get the Aussie ones here?

Christine, yes, you must check it out next Wednesday. Tell me what you think.

Samantha, I like the narration so far. Maybe it will bug me later.

Shelli, I totaly got the Burton vibe. Especially with the aunt’s house and the Pie Hole! I love that name, btw! Pie Hole.

  7. Shelli Says:

OMG! I was CRACKING up with The Pie Hole. Honestly, it’s what made me decide to watch the entire show. I figured any show that can have enough fun to name a restaurant The Pie Hole deserves my attention for at least an hour.

I missed the first episode of this one as I was trying to get my house all together so I could watch The Tudors (finally we get it on regular Canadian cable).

I’ve been too busy drooling over Jonathan Rhys-Meyers to think of anything else.
    :hump:

Maybe I’ll have my shit together enough next week to watch both…hm, so much for writing on Tuesday nights.

    Heroes is a new fav.

I meant to watch Pushing Daisies but lost track of time trying to get my child to go to sleep.

Dirty Sexy Money is pretty funny too. Love that Peter Krause!

  10. Isabelle Santiago Says:

You know, I meant to watch it and I completely forgot what time it was on. I’m gonna go see if they have the eppy for watching on abc.com.

I had been so excited about it too! Argh.

I’m a Bones fan. I love Ugly Betty too. I’m with you about Friends, I miss that show sooo much

  12. Lynn Matherly Says:

Pushing Daisies was great. I just hope the writers can continue the same creative edge beyond a few shows. I love Swooshie Kurtz and Kristin Chenowyth! I hope they become more prominent.

  13. Scary Carrie Says:

I loved Dirty Sexy Money! It has potential! I meant to watch Pushing Daisies, but missed it. The ads looked great. I’ll try again next week. Entourage is my favorite, however. It will be tough to beat! :pow:

  14. Shelli Says:

Did you hear there’s an encore presentation of this show tonight? I think? Google it :)

I really REALLY enjoyed PUshing Daisys! Even my son liked it (except he didn’t like the narrator and I loved it). There’s something very smart about it that I really love and of course, its got an original execution of standard tv fare.

Shelli I have to me-three on the Burton thing.

I love Ugly Betty too and I have to say I’m NOT a comedy fan. You’ll never catch me watching Seinfeld reruns or even The Office…I’m ubber picky about my funny.

Samantha Journeyman rocks! And Heroes is kicking some butt! I’m still a bit iffy on Prison Break but I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt. I just shut off ALL My premium cable channels to save some money so no Dexter till it’s out on DVD for me. But that’s okay. I need to be writing anyway. rasta
