Three Years Ago Today

On 9/26/04 at 9:26 a.m. I gave birth to my third and final child, Jack. It was quite the morning. Waking up at 4:30, feeling the contractions, watching Payton Place (such a trashy movie) until I knew it was time to go. Woke up husband and off we went. I got into that hospital at 7:30 and had him two hours later. Eager to come out, I guess. Here he is…
Yeah so I was always ready to get out of the hospital with my baby before, right? Not this time. No, I knew what I had in store for me. A husband who worked long hours, a pre-teen son and a twenty month old daughter who was already proving herself to be quite the diva. I loaded up Jack after a blissed out, peaceful stay at the hospital with drugs and cranberry juice at my beck and call.

(Damn if that kid doesn’t still like that binky. I know, I know, he’s three! He’s only using it at night, I swear)
We brought Jack home and here was the result. It wasn’t pretty.
She eventually got over it. Kinda. She still has her moments. But really, she loves her brother. Takes care of him, fights with him, mothers him, the works. They’re sweet together. Most of the time.
Shit there’s the binky! Well, his preschool teacher said he won’t go to college with it so I shouldn’t sweat it. She’s right. I think.
Happy Birthday Jack!

Ummm my girl still has her binkie (only at night) and she’ll be 4 in November. Good LOOOORD it’s hard to get them off it. It’s like toddler crack

Happy Birthday, Jack!!! Your kids are too cute, Karen!!!
To wean from binkies (my son called his Mimi), cut a small hole in the side. The hole gets bigger (though I don’t know how
), and the binkie will lose its crack-like hold. It’s been months and, thankfully, Mimi is long-forgotten.

Adorable! And I feel for his sister. I was the middle child, and the only girl. Life pretty much sucked from then on. I can totally relate to that picture. Cute kiddos! And I wouldn’t worry about the binkie either. He will out grow it. I didn’t have any tricks, we just moved it from an all day thing to nights only and after a short time, threw them all away. He never looked back. Good luck!

I LOVE that costume pic!!!! And ohhhh ms. diva on the floor.
You know with #1 Son a kitten kept getting hold of his binky and biting holes in it. Finally, with Binky #3 I said, “If the cat gets it, no more binky.” Th cat got it and the kid never fussed.
With #2 It was harder, but I was a hardass about it. There was no way I was sending my child to kindegarten with a damned binky (don’t even ASK how long I sucked my thumb). I weaned his ass quicklike then flat out took it away. He was NOT happy but life’s tough kiddo. Find a better crutch.

I wish mine would have taken binks. No such luck…BabyBoy is 4 and still uses his thumb, much to HubbaBubba’s dismay. At least he only does it at home!
What kind of cake did you get? That is always what I want to know…
