kickin-you-when-youre-down

I’ve been extra busy with projects, working hard this month. All kinds of things due that I needed to get done, was whittling down that To-Do list item by item. The hubster is out of town and I’m with the kids all by myself which is stress upon itself but hey. It hasn’t been so bad this time around. Until….

lets-get-it-on

It can be the heart of controversy in the writing/reading community. Love scenes. I remember both of my firsts clearly. The first time I ever read a love scene, and then when I wrote my first one in a book.

Reading it I was a pre-teen, now which they call the tween years. I picked up a Harlequin Presents (the sexiest cover I could find!) and read it straight through. There’s only a few things I remember. The heroine was asleep when the hero came in seduced her–which later he said ‘I basically forced you’ which even then I knew he hadn’t. She was all over that guy. There was a lot of breast play and a little more, but compared to most love scenes, it was pretty tame. But to me, it was so completely dirty. I was shocked. It was that first bridge into crossing that world towards thinking like a grown up. Of course I was hooked on romance novels from that point on. :cloud9:

When I decided I wanted to write my first book, I wasn’t really thinking about the love scene. I just had this plot in my head and I was going to run with it. So I was writing and writing and plugging along. Then I came to it. My characters were about ready to riot if I didn’t get them bouncing the bed springs soon.   :hump:

Okay this is really funny, especially if you’re a Jason Bourne fan (Bourne Ultimatum etc.) :bounce:

A peek at Trust and Dare. Why I wrote it.

a-peek-at-trust-and-dare-why-i-wrote-it

So my first book from Samhain Publishing came out almost two weeks ago. It’s doing great, after not even two weeks it hit #6 on the best seller list, and that’s a 3 week average! I was thrilled, because I’m a new author at Samhain. Trust and Dare was a lot of fun to write, it was also very therapeutic.

All my life I grew up crushing on military men. It’s probably because I spent my childhood baking under the hot sun at airshows, and walking around a base filled with men in uniform. I always knew I’d fall for one. And I did, and unfortunately he destroyed my unwavering faith and innocent crushing on military men. But he did leave me with one fabulous thing. A beautiful daughter. Anyway, this bitterness ate at me, and I was mad at him for making me transfer this anger to all men in uniform. Especially with all they’re doing for our country right now.

So I made myself move forward and recognize it was just one man, not all of them. Shit happens, I’m certainly not the first woman to get screwed. Literally. :lmao: Sorry, couldn’t resist. Anyway, the final step in healing, and closing that chapter of anti-military men in my life, was writing Trust and Dare. My hero is a confident, alpha, army guy who has strong values. My heroine is a sexy, curvy, prankster, who absolutely refuses to date military men. I loved writing this book. Loved it! It was too much fun, and like I said…. a creative way to finish the healing.

So here’s some more about Trust and Dare and a dirtyish  excerpt!

And Then…

and-then

I start every sentence with the words “and then.” And if it’s not the first phrase of the sentence, I work those fucking words in somewhere else. Seriously. See here? This is an unedited quote from what I wrote yesterday (and yes, I am posting the total crap that I call my first draft):

Warning: X-rated smut ahead

So Karen’s internet is being a little b*tch and she can’t post right now. As a result, we’re putting up hot man pics. So without further ado, here is Mark Wahlberg from the movie Shooter (which is a freaking awesome movie, so watch it!)

You Were Warned

you-were-warned

As ya’ll know my first two print releases are um Erotica, yeah :hump: that stuff. So my step-mom, being my step-mom, emails me asking when they get a copy (signed of course). I email her back with a warning, HO contains FFM threesomes, masturbation and light BDSM. “Don’t you want to wait until Nailed comes out next year?”

She never emailed me back about it, so I left it alone. THEN they came over that Sunday to fix my dryer (this was the Sunday before Nationals), and Dad was like, “Where’s my book?”

So I go get him a copy, and I tell him, “That warning on the back is for real. I emailed Jo and I’m not kidding. You were warned.”

And he’s all, “I don’t know if I should tell my friends your book is out or not.”

And I”m like “Whatever. Your father was the original dirty old man.  You were warned.”

So he says, “I’ll read it first.”

You do that.
