The Final Countdown

I’m SO LATE!
My apologies! I was out doing last minutes stuff for Nationals. Now you’re probably asking why I’m doing last minute stuff a week out.
a) Fourth of July sales
b) extra time off work
c) I have the kids this weekend and I can’t get nothing done with them around, so it’s best to leave them behind while I can and while I have bribery at my fingertips (namely Transformers).
Needless to say, I’m in a panic thinking I don’t have enough clothes  but then, do we ever? I picked up two pair of shoes today (when I meant to get one but they were both cute and comfy–and half price), some new jeans, a cardigan and a couple more shirts on clearance. Got the hair all relaxed for the hairdresser next week.
I’m off tomorrow so the plan is to start gathering up things for the cleaners. You didn’t think I was actually going to IRON all those clothes did you? And then Monday I drop the kids off at the ex MIL’s, Tuesday I get a haircut, and load up the car and then it’s A WEEK OF NO CHILDREN!!
I know …I know, it’s really sad. As much as I’m looking forward to a week of girltalk, and meeting my editor and cocktails (and cowboys :hitit: ), and oh yeah, learning more about writing, it’s the NO CHILDREN factor at the forefront of my happy little brain.
The little buggers even had the audacity to ask me today why they couldn’t go with me (THE NERVE!), then immediately started bickering about nothing in general. I turned around and gave them the
and said that’s why.
So who’s going to RWA? What are you most excited about? (BTW we WILL be blogging from RWA with our own special red carpet reports *ggg*)

You know…I really don’t iron. I just don’t. I don’t have clothes that need ironing…wait, I do? Oooh and I just don’t iron them. See, the iron and I don’t get along.
I hear you on the no kids thing. This one week out of the year is my ‘vacation’, my time away. But my kid’s still young enough (3) that I feel bad the minute I get there for leaving!
I swear. The best moment I had last year was sleeping in (till 8), laying in bed, ordering room service and watching tv. It was so nice. I did that one day, and I FULLY intend to do that one day this time. Hmm. If I can fit it into my schedule.
We’re going to have so much fun!!!!!!
I really need to write my pitch, because I’m not good winging it. I go blank (mind empties, I start to shake and foam at the mouth) when I’m in the presence of an agent/editor I dream of working with. I think I need to learn to fake it.
The confident you know you want me persona. Kachow! (I totally just quoted Lightening McQueen from Cars).

Ironing. I find that if I put something on in the morning that’s wrinkled, by lunchtime the wrinklage has been reduced enough to make it look like it may have flat in the morning then got wrinkled during the day. Does that make sense?
I am SO excited for Nationals!!! I don’t have a specific thing that I’m excited for. Just everything. It’s going to be a blast.

Julie are you saying that when you do iron, your clothes look wrinkled by the middle of the day, same as they do if you don’t iron except instead of wrinkles going in, they’re coming out?
Shel I say we make a date with room service! Don’t feel bad, trust me she probably doesn’t miss you until five minutes before you get home :) I can help with the pitch–I think enthusiasm is a HUGE key to a good pitch.
